Russian Federation: Nizhniy Novgorod Labour Market project to assist disabled unemployed

The Project Objective is to improve socio-economic position of People with Disabilities (PWD) in Nizhny Novgorod city and oblast as a result of more adequate support (system), more employment facilities (job opportunities, self-employment and sheltered workshops) and more positive attitude of society, employers, local and regional government.

The framework of the project is to use four approaches on establishing employment and employability of disabled. Namely:

  1. Career and job counselling of unemployed disabled on the open labour market.
  2. Assistance in the organisation of self employment for disabled.
  3. Establishment and assistance of a business incubator for disabled,
  4. Establishment of a Social Work Centre (sheltered employment)

In total the project plans to assist 400 disabled with employment. The aim is to extend the project to other regions and districts in the oblast and to increase the number of employed disabled accordingly.

Belarus: Support to the capacity building and networking of Belarusian Non Governmental Organisations and Local Authorities

Nehem International provided the experts for two related Framework contracts in Belarus. The projects aim is to increase the level of participation, the involvement of Belarusian NGO’s and local authorities as project partners in different EU initiatives in the field of Civil Society, as well as to improve the quality of the proposals submitted.

Specific objective was to develop the capacity level of the Belarusian NGOs and local authorities to design, manage and implement projects according to the objectives, procedures and requirements of the European Commission within relevant instruments through a training phase, based on capacity and training needs assessment.

Uzbekistan: Development of Employment Opportunities in Uzbekistan

The project aim was to assist the Ministry of Labour (at central and regional levels) and the local authorities to develop training and other related measures in two regions of Surkhandarya and Kashkadarya.

The project supported employment opportunities for job seekers in the regions through a widening implementation of employment and job-creation policies, by enhancing the capacity of the employment service, local and regional authorities, public organisations and NGOs placing more people in sustainable employment. This included a programme of entrepreneurship for unemployed persons to become self-employed entrepreneurs.

Belarus: Rural Development by Rural Women

The project objective is the strengthening of Selchanka, Rural Women Organisation, in order to improve the self governance and quality of life in rural areas and consequently to diminish the degrading and depopulation. The project is implemented by NBvP/ Vrouwen van Nu together with Nehem International.

Selchanka is coached in developing and implementing all kind of local activities and projects like: employment and income generating activities, social activities and social services for the rural population, initiating projects and the organisation of training courses, seminars and special events

Together with the strengthening of Selchanka the project aims is to assist local and central authorities to develop mechanisms for rural development, i.e. to change the attitude from an ad hoc approach to a pro-active approach and to stimulate local members to participate with local authorities and persuade them to involve rural citizens and rural NGOs in the development of rural policy.

Armenia: Strengthening of the Public Employment Services

Nehem was involved in the Technical Assistance to the PES in Armenia. The project contains policy reform, the development of active labour market instruments, budgeting, training pilots, in-service staff training, etc.

Belarus: Establishment of three Social Work Centres

Nehem is responsible for the establishment of three Social Work Centres for disabled unemployed in the Republic of Belarus. The project aims at the development of Social Work Centres in Minsk, Grodno and Mogilev, employing 420 disabled unemployed. Furthermore, it contains elements like review of current legislation, staff training and most important of all setting up economical feasible workshops.

Belarus: Civil Society Developement Programme-NGO assistance for disabled unemployed

Nehem is contracted to assist and train different Belarussian NGOs in the field of employment assistance to disabled unemployed. The project contains an important aim to establish efficient working relations between the State Employment Services and the involved NGOs.

Belarus: Assistance to the Belarussian Private Farmers Association (BFA)

The Project contains institutional development of the BFA, development of services to their members and the strengthening of Social Dialogue. The project also includes the establishment of contacts between Belarussian and Dutch agricultural institutions/organisations and the development of a pilot cooperative firm. Finally the project includes the development and implementation of activities for Rural Women.

Moldova: Reform of the professional orientation system

Together with Aarhus Technical College is Nehem involved in the reform of the Moldavian VET system. The VET policy is adapted to market oriented requirements and the VET institutes are provided with up-dated training curricula, which will be implemented during the last phase of the project.

Ukraine: Establishment of a Transport and Logistic Training and Information Centre

The first phase of a project to establish a Transport & Logistics Training and Information Centre in Kiev. The development of a Train the Trainer programme for the potential staff and curriculum development for a (pilot) Transport/Logistic management course for the Centre. Execution of the Train the Trainer programme with the staff and providing the pilot training course to a first group of transport managers.

The objective of this project is to assist the Ministry of Labour (at central and regional levels) and the local authorities to develop training and other related measures in two regions selected in accordance with other EU sectoral activities in the fields of health and rural development. The project will support employment opportunities for job seekers in the regions of Surkhandarya and Kashkadarya through a widening implementation of employment and job-creation policies.
